Nature of Second Hand Smoke?
Does the exhale from smoking a cigarette and the burning of a cigarette linger and stick to cloth, walls, etc. If it does, how harmful is it?
I ask this b/c some people smoke in the garage of my house. Above the garage is my mother's room. Can the smoke seep though the garage roof (no vents in there just drywall and some insulation) and have the nature of second hand smoke, or will it just blow out the garage and dissipate over time.
Same thing for cars. If smoking while driving with the windows open, does the smoke stick to the upholstery. Are you breathing in harmful chemicals years after?

YES this is bad for you! The smoke does stick and linger on everything it touches, that is why a smokers face and hands smells like smoke. If you want more proof leave a t-shirt down there remove it a couple days later and you can tell. Since there aren't any vents that is very helpful the insulation should stop most of it, but if there is a lot of smoking going on in the garage it is truly best for them to move it outside. Children and elderly can be severely affected by second hand smoke or being around items that have it lingering on it. Ear infections, colds, pneumonia, just over all decreased well being. It can take years for smoke linger to come out of upholstery in a car, in fact that is why many people dont buy smoked in cars, because the smell and linger may never leave.
Kudos tho on at least having them keep it to the garage, but push for outside and not near her window.
